Speakers 2017: India Earl

This is India from UTAH.

I’m a full time wedding photographer currently based out of a little town in the middle of the mountains of northern Utah. I love traveling, thai food, dogs, and pretty much anything that takes me outside. I’m married to the weirdest and best person I’ve ever met. Together we climb, skydive (just got certified last year, whoo!), snowboard, hike, and eat tons of panda express and sushi. And yep, below thats us on our wedding weekend drenched in desert rain.

“The only thing standing between you and your goal is the bullshit story you keep telling yourself as to why you cant achieve it.”

The key to creativity is…

Pulling inspiration from what is right in front of you, for yourself. Not trying to force anything or create for others, but to really just open your eyes and listen to what is around you.

Where do you gather most of the inspiration for your work?

My biggest inspiration comes from people, their stories, the quirks that make them unique, those little things they do that makes others love them. Gut busting laughs, inhaling and exhaling in sync, curled toes and eyelid kisses, all the little things that make up love. Thats what keeps me pushing myself creatively.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given and what is the best advice you would give to someone just starting out?
Best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is to stop caring so much. Stop caring and stressing over the little things, since they always seem to work themselves out. The crinkles and creases in your journey is what makes your work yours, let them happen and focus on what really matters. If I had any advice from someone just starting out, I would say don’t compare yourself to others. Its hard, I know. But remember that your chapter 3 isn’t comparable to someone else’s chapter 20. Comparison is the thief of joy and you’ll never find that joy in your own work if you’re constantly putting it up next to someone else’s.
